“I’ve got this!” She reassures themale next to her, though the dubious look in his eyes tells her clearly enoughthat he doesn’t believe her. So be it. The kitten paws at the branch, and Tzuyureaches on tip toes once again, as if she’d be testing her luck: but she’s donethat before and, no matter how hard she tries, she can’t do any more than touchthe thick branch with her fingertips. She can hear Vernon commenting something,and she’s certain it’s an attempt to make her hold back from what she’s aboutto do… but she doesn’t pay attention.
She breathes out a quiet sigh, beforestepping forwards, tugging at branch after branch, until she’s certain that she’sfound one that will support her weight, then starts climbing. And it does gowell – she stumbles here and there, slides little by little in certain spots but,after a few good moments, she’s high enough to be able to reach for the kitten,and she does… but, clearly, she hasn’t thought that through enough. Themovement is too quick, too abrupt, and the feline is, inevitably, scared, sobefore Tzuyu can dodge, its little claws lodge into the back of her hand. “Aish!”Her little squeal is enough to make the kitten retreat, but, with that, theidol finds herself withdrawing her hand, and it’s enough to lose balance – she didn’trealize that she wouldn’t be strong enough to hold herself up with just onehand.
It’s a short fall, really, because shehasn’t gotten that high – but it’s flat on her bottom, with a loud thump and awhine, and when she looks up to her companion, he has the most insufferablesmug expression on his face – one that screams ‘I told you so’, even if he didn’topen his mouth. “…that… might not have been my best idea—“
