trees of varied reds, browns, and oranges now line the streets of washington dc as autumn fully takes its hold. apples are being picked from nearby orchards, pumpkins are placed atop stoops and sidewalks, and as the october holiday quickly approaches, decorations are arranged throughout front yards. as people ready themselves for a night of costumes and candy, the city prepares with the closure of a familiar street, the word of a new event sending a ring of excitement & wary among its citizens. a series of stands and tents pop up overnight, a festival is coming to town, giving everyone the opportunity to spend a cool autumn's day with friends and family. so dress up, enjoy a sweet treat or two, and have a chilling time at the city's halloween fest !

hello there, ghouls & ghosts! because it has admittedly been a while since our last official event, we thought that we'd return by bringing out something a bit more casual to push along the muse for the upcoming halloween season! like our other mini events, this can be used as a setting for hidden's muses to come together as they wish & will not work like our bigger ones. so please be sure to continue reading for the rules & information regarding the festival! as per usual, we hope that you have fun & are able to get some ideas out of this!! ♥

this event will last the 14 days out of character , but only 10 days in character.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE FESTIVAL:
OUTFITS : this is a dress up event, so while characters are free to wear their casual day-to-day wardrobe, costumes are welcome & strongly encouraged!! we'd love to see them on the dash too!

well guys another year another hidden anniversary but this year is a remix. admin maig who usually handles this is occupied so somehow that means the job has been left to me. please continue reading with the knowledge that i don’t really do this sort of thing, i am not good an sappy, long, emotional statements, and this whole thing is bound to end in more jokes than anything. also if it’s bad make sure to remember that i’m cross referencing the old posts maig has made for help so if mine is bad she is partially responsible.
no matter how much i joke or refuse to emote i really do have to say i am blown away by how long this rp has managed to keep going. when i first joined, back before the opening day, i truly thought i would be with hidden for two weeks at the longest and now here we are eight years later. back when i joined it was a time of rp hopping for me, seeing a place that looked interesting, sending an impulsive app, and ghosting shortly after. i went into this thinking it would be exactly the same. instead hiddenwashington has become so much more than i ever could have possibly imagined, it's grown and changed and stayed strong for what is starting to look close to a decade. it's absolutely unbelievable and so so special to me! i could not be more proud and grateful to be able to help build this incredible community and get to make amazing friends along the way.
okay checking the script next up is thanking the members so we'll do that now. to everyone who's been a member of hidden past, present, or future, i am sending a huge amount of love you way! this place simply would not be possible without all of you. i know a lot of us are busy, have so much going on outside of a silly tumblr rp, which makes it all the more incredible that so many of y'all have decided to take some of your precious free time and spend it writing silly characters here with us. these days i am absolutely awe struck every time we get a new member. knowing that people are still finding us here and having an interest in seeing what we're about is just absolutely insane i don't know what catches your eye but i am so happy something did. each and every one of you bring a super important personality to the dash and the ooc interactions. i can easily say that this rp has come to be so much more than just a place to write. for me and hopefully others it's also just a big social community and i have made so many important friendships through hidden. that wouldn't be possible without you guys who show up, look over our blog, and decide you want to give it a shot, so thank you!
we're now at the part where maig typically thanks the other admins. she's built with love in her heart and does like a full paragraph with everyone. i am not built like that. we're gonna rapid fire some thank yous and compliments and everyone's going to get what they get and be happy with it. alphabetic order let's go. aria, fc suggestions just simply would not get done without you. you're a pillar to getting things done. jodie, we would be screwed without you to check in on things in the morning. shoutout to maig and i for being incapable of managing admins with any timezone diversity. kasey, you're the best at hopping on and offering yourself out when there is something on the main other people don't want to do. there's always a lot i don't want to do, so i love that for me. and maig, we wouldn't be here without you starting the circus up, so congrats i guess. honestly can't believe we haven't run this place to the ground yet, so that's a win for everyone involved.
this is already longer than i thought i'd manage and i'll be honest i'm running out of juice. everyone here is really cool, even if spending a bunch of time on tumblr and discord writing collaborative fanfiction probably isn't the stuff people brag to their friends about. the point is i think you're all cool and my opinions are objectively correct. so thank you for being here, thank you for being cool people, and thank you for letting us keep this place running for yet another year. it really is overwhelming to think about how far this has gone and how much we've been able to do thanks to everyone here, and here's to another great year!

hello!! happy december friends!! admin maig popping in with the announcement of OUR ANNUAL HOLIDAY ACTIVITY PAUSE! for anyone who is new, or needs a refresher, us admins know how absolutely insane this time of year can get, and we understand that getting online right now might not be as easy as any other time of the year! so, with that said, we will be pausing the general activity checks until the new year!! we will announce the exact date in january for you, when we have the date settled! this way everyone is able to enjoy the holidays, catch up on replies, or just get a little bit of a winter break without stressing about meeting activity! of course, we love to see the dash still moving so please don’t hesitate to keep posting! the rp is not paused, just the activity checks! though, that said, we will still be continuing to do activity checks for hiatus returns, and making sure you’re posting on new characters you take! otherwise, activity will resume in january, and you’ll all be made aware when the check is coming, but, aim to start really grinding after the first full week of the year! otherwise, babes, have a safe, happy and restful holiday and new years, we admins are always here if you need anything. i cannot believe we are nearly in the 8th year of hidden, and i can’t wait to see what 2026 brings for us!! love y'all !!
hi gang! we hope you have all had a good start to the new year!! just coming in quick with an update about our activity pause. unfortunately, real life does have to restart after the holidays, and with that, so does our usual activity. we know getting back into the swing of things can take some time, so we are giving y'all plenty of warning and letting you know that our first check of the year will be next thursday, january 15th! that said, anything posted in character from saturday the 10th and on will count and keep you clear from the activity check! if you need a hiatus, please let us know! but all in all we are excited to get back into the normal swing of life and see what the eight year of hidden brings us!
it’s officially summer in washington! the temperatures have begun to rise as the days get longer, and citizens are itching for new and exciting activities to fill the extra hours. there is always something to do, you just have to know where to look. from exploring the marina, to the ferris wheel, or cooling off inside the plethora of museums, there’s something for everyone. it’s just about finding someone to enjoy it with!
happy summer friends!! we wanted to give you all something fun and easy this month, instead of our usual tasks or events, we decided to combine them a little bit to bring you another prompt task !! as you have already know, based off of the questionnaire you’ve filled out, you will be assigned a random partner, as well as a randomized prompt to complete!! below is just a quick list of some housekeeping guidelines, and the list of where to find your partners and prompts!
you will be assigned a random task, be it cozy or angsty, based off of what you submitted, and paired with another member and their character for that prompt!! due to the amount of submissions we had, we did cap the number of characters we assigned prompts to. but if you feel like you can handle more, feel free to shoot a dm to the main and we can add your characters onto a waitlist!

please get in contact with your partner and begin plotting, discussing and writing together! if you need help finding anyone’s discord, we admins can lend a hand, or you’re welcome to use tumblr dms (we just know a majority of people prefer conversing through discord!)
you are free to complete this prompt in any time frame you see fit, you do not need to rush to complete these, but we do ask that you keep the momentum going as we are all excited to see what you do with these prompts!
there is no right way to do these! you don’t have to make them super long, and you don’t have to write only a few sentences! it is all about you, your partner and your muses!
get creative! these plots are a bouncing off point! just be sure that everything is following with the original idea and then go from there!
if you do plan on having a character be injured, beyond what might be assigned, remember to contact the main! we do ask that, even if the prompt is involving injury, that you remember to keep it pretty tame as we do not want this to be an event of people getting completely hurt! we admins still retain the right to deny any major plots !

the scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds as the monster mash started to hit the festival grounds. the parade had concluded, the first set of live music came to its close, when suddenly the people saw a problem had arose. a big flash of lightning suddenly broke through the clear sky— wait, is that a monster? my, oh my.
with the halloween festival ready to finish for the season, it had one last event in store for washington dc's citizen: the advertised monster mash show at the end of the final day. however, what was meant to be a fun evening with music and friends was quick to turn sour. just as the sun cleared the horizon, there was a single bolt of lightning, signaling the arrival of monsters, creatures, and ghouls there to now torment those in attendance. escape, though not entirely impossible, became difficult as the festival streets were now filled with danger that hadn't existed just moments before. if people want to make it to safety, they better move quick and keep those eyes peeled – you never know what's lurking around the corner.
OOC INFORMATION:
well, as some of you may have guessed, we couldn't pull off a totally normal, chill event. especially not for halloween of all things! so just to spice things up a little for those wanting something with a bit more of an edge, we're introducing some monsters for the remainder of the event. this still isn't mandatory, as the surprise is being contained close to the festival grounds, but it's now an option that can be utilized to transition or create threads until the event's conclusion!
THE MONSTERS:
happy halloween gang, your characters will now face off against troves of monsters, both familiar and not. we have taken from a multitude of different fandoms to give a mix of difficulty but also variety.
here you will find the full list of monsters invading the city
your characters will have full run of the city as always, they are free to make safe houses, try and save people, run head first into a horde for the thrill of it. anything you can really think of.
these monsters are not just attacking people from the same fandoms, and we encourage you to branch out and fight some new creatures! you can use a randomizer to pick out different monsters for each thread.
the google doc links to wiki pages with information for each monster, should you need some help learning what you're up against.
if there are any monsters (within reason) that you would like to see added to the list, feel free to dm either the main, or an admin and we will add them into the fray after approval!

the loves of my life, members, angels, hidden’s cryptids alike, first off, let me just start by saying THANK YOU so much for the activity and love and excitement that was felt throughout this mini event!! we are truly grateful for that and all of the creativity and effort we seen without fail on the dash!! we have no doubt we’ll be seeing the same energy for the next one, and the one after that, and the dozen more that we wish may follow. it was such a pleasure to bring you something after such a long hiatus between events, and we're so thrilled to know that y'all will always bring this energy to anything we throw at you! but with that all said, the monster mash must come to an end, the creatures of the night have returned to the universes from whence they came, and the citizens of dc must once again try to reconcile the nights events. so, we do have to say that another event has concluded here at hiddenwashington. please, from this point on, DO NOT POST ANY NEW CONVERSATIONS regarding the event ( new starters, or replies to OPEN event starters )!! that being said, YOU MAY CONTINUE TO WRAP UP YOUR EVENT CONVERSATIONS, put a nice ending to them, find a good stopping point, or transition them to work outside the event!! from here on out though, the dash will be going back to its normal interactions. to make that transition easier, each mun will be allowed ONE FREE STARTER, just like the start of the event, for the next 24 hours only! after that, our rules go back into place as usual! remember that is ONE OPEN STARTER PER MUN!
