Office Romance with Min Hyun

First day of work leads to a fateful encounter

This was something inspired by a dream I had :) This is my first time trying bullet point style, so I hope it’s okay. Enjoy!

You’re a new hire at PR company; nothing big but fresh out of college and you’ll take the job since it seems decent

So you wake up super early your first day to get ready and make sure you get to work on time

When you arrive, you realize you’re like an hour early, so you decide to stop by the cafe that’s next door

Well that’s convenient, maybe you can spend your lunch breaks here

Aesthetics doe. That’s what’s everyone’s into nowadays right? Cafes are included, right?

You get in line and take note of the tall person in front of you

When he orders, his voice sounds like honey and you can’t help but fall in love with him, even if you haven’t seen his face

When he turns to leave, you’re even more shook because wow if his voice sounded that good, he definitely had a face to match it

You were so busy staring that you didn’t notice you were first in line and someone had to tap you on the shoulder 

You apologize quickly before stepping up to the counter to order a peach green tea before paying and stepping to the side to wait, sneakily but not very standing next to the man who ordered before you

He was reading a book while he waited and you couldn’t help but think he was even dreamier. How many guys read like that? Not many that’s for sure

When his order is called, you watch him grab his drink before leaving the cafe and you feel your heart sink

Because honestly what are the chances of seeing someone like him again? Very slim

When your name is called, you get your drink and sit on the side to relax before passing time on your phone

Yikes, it’s 15 minutes before you're due, so you gulp down the last of your drink before rushing next door

Taking a deep breath, you walked through the doors and gave your name to the receptionist, who’s name was Ji Sung

He was super nice and gave you your new id and some paper work before directing you to the office on the 11th floor (ha)

When the elevator doors open and you walk into the office, everyone looks up and you slightly freeze before introducing yourself as the new hire

Someone in your peripheral stands up and introduces himself as Min Hyun, the manager

And if you were shook before, it doesn’t compare to now, because Min Hyun is the same Min Hyun you saw in the cafe earlier

He looks at you strangely, as he continues to hold his hand out, waiting for you to shake it

It’s only then that you realize you’ve made a social blunder and quickly shake his hand

“Sorry, I’m a bit nervous for my first day.”

“That’s okay! I was the same way, but you’ll get used to us all. We’re all nice here.”

So he shows you the ropes and you settle in, because he was right. Everyone was nice

And guess were your desk is?

Right across from Min Hyun’s. Because “you’re new and you can ask me questions if you’re nearby”

So you’re cool with that, but not at the same time because it’s gonna so easy for your coworkers to catch you staring at him

So you try your hardest to focus on your work, and you’re pretty successful

For the first week, everyone compliments you on your work and gives you tips to make things better or easier

But they also tell you to chill because it’s okay. They don’t want you to overwork yourself in just the first week

So you listen...but then you find yourself staring at Min Hyun since he’s so handsome

But then you catch yourself and get back to work

Fast forward a few months and you’re back at the cafe next to your work

You learned that it was okay to bring coffee or tea into the office, so long as you were careful around the computers

You also learned that you don’t have to come in exactly on time; you can come in earlier and as long as you finish your work, you can leave early too

Is there a work place that does this, please tell me lol

While standing in line, you feel someone tap you on the shoulder and you turn around to see Min Hyun

“Hey Y/N, do you come here often?”

“Yeah, since it’s right next to work!”

“Me too! Why haven’t we run into each other before?”

“I guess because we come in at different times.”

“We should head in together from now on.”

Did he just say what you thought he said? Together? What?????

“Since we work similar shifts”

“Oh yeah, sure!”

You’re surprised when he follows you to the counter to order

“It’s on me today.”

And so was the day after, and the day after that.

You tried not to think too hard about it, but it ended up happening anyway

Especially when he started texting you outside of work

At first you were kind of scared because omg, your manager? Like can you be casual with him or what? 

But when he started sending emojis, you let your guard down and just act like yourself

You also learned that he was actually around your age but due to his skills he was able to move up the ranks quickly

And this went on until one day, you stepped into the cafe and saw Min Hyun waiting at one of the tables

He waved you over, and your drink was ready as usual, along with his grapefruit tea.

“What’s up Min Hyun?”

He looked kind of worried and you wondered if he was feeling okay?

“Hey this might be really weird and awkward for you but I’ve kind of liked you for a long time, do you want to start dating?”

You sat there and blinked for a few seconds

Did Min Hyun, YOUR MANAGER, just ask you out? Yes he did girl, yes he did

“Okay, I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. I’ll just leave now...”

So he starts to get out of his seat before you reach out to stop him

“No, it’s not that. I’m just surprised that’s all. I’ve liked you since I saw you in this cafe on my first day, but I was afraid of making you feel uncomfortable.”

“Your first day? I didn’t see you at the cafe...”

“I was in line behind you but I think you were busy reading that day.”

He let it sink in for a bit before grinning.

“Wow, it must be fate, then huh? That means we have to start dating.”

What

He blushes shyly after saying that and starts drinking his juice, while you look on in amusement but also excitement

And so begins your relationship

Everyone at the office finds out when you both leave for lunch together

Because wow, they all knew Min Hyun had a thing for you, and you a thing for him, but didn’t want to force you two together

 Including Ji Sung who knew since the very beginning you both walked into the office together

So everyone’s happy all around

Especially you and Min Hyun :’)
