@hwknsarchives // everything changes eventually. / from el
nestled within the charmingly decorated bedroom of hopper's withering cabin, will sits upon el's bed and tries not to cry. it isn't the first time he's been in a similar position with her, back in lenora when all they'd had was each other in a sea of faces as unfamiliar was they were unkind, and it wasn't always him that was the one trying to hold it together. they'd become real siblings in that short period of time, a bond formed that can't be broken, always there for one another even when it feels like nobody else is.
and now, during the summer after graduation, their time of being together in such close proximity was dwindling to a close. once they've moved off to college, they won't be living under the same roof anymore, and it's something that will has been struggling with in ways that remind him of his other friends growing up faster than he was able to, stirring up those old memories along with creating new, unknown worries to face.
"i know..." he mutters as he traces his finger along the pattern of el's comforter, blinking back hot tears. "i just- i-i wish everything would... stop changing. a-at least for a little while. i dunno, i-it just feels like... all we've done is struggle to catch up, you know? everything keeps changing a-and we have to just go along with it because there's nothing we can do about it, and- and all i want is to just... slow down. give us a chance to actually enjoy being in the now before it has to change again..."
