another task is flying your way angels! we are super excited to bring this to you, and cannot wait to see what you all make of it!! we know we’ve been a bit lax on tasks and events during the summer months, but we’ve got plenty up our sleeves and we are ready to give you a little taste of it! for our next task, we will be doing a writing piece, where you will be given the chance to write a letter in your character’s voice to someone back home! please read on through to hear more about it!!
the holes inside of the magic of washington are weakening, only for a moment, there is a glimmer of hope, a moment where those who have been trapped feel a change. something is different. communication has opened once more to their homes and those in washington are given the chance to write to the ones they’ve left behind. one letter from each citizen will find their way back to those they wish to speak to, but you only get one chance, one moment to say all you have been dying to say, to let them know you are safe, or to remind an enemy that you have not disappeared for good.
these letters can be as long or as short as you wish. they are meant to bring a little more depth to all that our characters have been going through since coming to dc, what has been wearing on their souls.
these can be addressed to any character from your character’s fandom, alive or dead, past or present. they just cannot be written to someone taken within the group already. so for example, if you are writing as harry potter, you cannot write a letter to lily evans as these are both taken characters. but you could, as harry, write a letter to uncle vernon!
you are totally free to make this as deep and emotional as you wish, go crazy with it babes! write to your character’s enemy who isn’t here, a dead parent about everything your character has wanted to say, a lover or best friend that they want to reassure that they are safe. anything you possibly can think of is on the table for you with this!!
please be sure to post these on your blogs, in whatever format you wish, and tag them with hwtask04 !!
there is no set time limit to when you have to complete this, but the sooner the better, so that we all can see them! but if it takes you a week or so, that is perfectly alright too!
the tasks are not mandatory, but we do highly encourage that you take part in this as it gives some insight to your characters and all that they are going through here in dc!! of course, you do not have to do this with all characters, unless you so wish, but feel free to pick and choose which ones you’d like to participate with! and do keep in mind that tasks will count as activity, so if you post one, it does count the same as a thread in that way!

it's been longer then we thought since we've had our last event, so the time is here, to make the city of washington dc, a true trick or a treat ! despite to not having an event, we would still love to see what outfits your characters might be wearing during halloween, whether they're celebrating, trick or treating, or giving out sweets to locals. with that being said, bring out the costumes and show us what your character would be wearing on october 31st, or for any parties they might go to, and feel free to throw in any extra information about how they’ll be celebrating that you would like ! you can find more details under the 'read more ' and feel free to message us if you have any questions !
get ready to do the monster mash by showing us what costume your character will be wearing. this of course, doesn’t have to be overanalyzed. it could be anything from your character’s role model, favorite tv show, movie, meme, or anything that comes to mind!
if wanted, you can say what your charcter is doing during halloween, whether they’re trick or treating, participating in one of dc’s many clubs or bars, handing out treats, or even playing tricks on others. after all, it’s halloween, enjoy the crispness of the fall air and the coloring of the leaves.
feel free to use whatever sources you’d like to show off your characters costumes, whether it’s through tumblr pictures, photoshop, or urstyle! feel free to use other platforms as well.
as always, there isn’t a set timeline to have these posted, however, the sooner usually is better! we would love to have these posted within the next week, however, if it’s later done, it’s completely understandable and you’re welcome to post them whenever you decide to!
be sure to tag anything that could be triggering as well friends, we’re all for making halloween spooky, but of course, there are some that enjoy the less horror themed aspects of the holiday, so be considerate and we hope everyone will find some way to join in on the fun!!
the most important tip is: have fun! costumes are tricky, but please be sure too have as much fun as you possibly can !

annabeth dressed up as mera, she liked that costume and she picked her. the girl went to a party that she was invited, for the frst time she decided to at least relax a bit even if she was worry about not being with her friends.
Sydney didn’t have any plans for Halloween and it’s not the sort of holiday her family ever celebrated growing up but she decided to do a low-key costume based on one of her favourite book characters; Nancy Drew. It was the perfect costume for her because she’s always worried that the Alchemists are watching and she didn’t want them to see her celebrating the supernatural by dressing up. Since she dresses a lot like Nancy Drew in her usual business casual clothing, no one would have suspected she was actually in costume if they caught sight of her handing out candy to trick or treaters. But it made her feel special even if she just spent her night at home reading.
Hope decided to dress up as one of her favorite princess: belle from beauty and the beast. Right now she just decided to try and have fun as a normal teenager, at least just for now and for this night.
Nancy will be dressing up as red riding hood because it was one of her favorite books growing up and she decided to go for it and try to just live here instead of freaking out about this place.
leia had planned on dressing up in something completely different, having had the idea to dress as a secret service agent and see if anyone noticed before she arrived outside to hand candy out to the thousands of trick or treaters invited to the white house each year. but upon seeing her mother and brother misunderstanding the concept, seeing the two of them both dressed in their best clothes, taking dressing up in a different meaning, leia changed almost immediately, as to make sure that they did not stick out, and no one could embarrass them. the three after all, are royalty. so leia instead, became a princess once more, if only for a night.
