it’s been awhile since he’s had time to really sit down and celebrate his birthday. it’s been a long while since he’s done so with his brother but after all the bumps and madness, he’s glad to be sitting here with him. glad to have this chance when at one point he’d believed so completely he’d never even hear the other’s voice again. ❝——————I guess I had to grow up eventually. Can’t say I like it.❞
his laugh is loud and low. a hand lapping clint’s shoulder in commiserating sympathy. for all that has changed, some things most certainly never do. his brother remains that vibrant spark not quite ready to grow up. (wasn’t there a book about a boy like that? in the end, he did.) “ain’t all bad. can eat ice cream for dinner.” he pauses, looking out over the distant sky. “course, you gotta BUY the ice cream yourself, but ya know...” a soft exhale. for what his life is? some moments, like now, aren’t bad at all. “any plans for the ‘new’ year?” a smirk. “only gotta year before you gotta grow up more.”
