A Rick OC I have never introduced before. Technically my first Rick OC, created back before the release of season 5. Back then I didn’t even know he was an OC, he was just more of an idea of a Rick that could possibly be.. And he looked way way different…
So without further ado, meet “Rickenstein’s Monster”:
⚠️Huge yap/info-dump below the cut!⚠️
This Rick is a mash up of five different and unique Ricks created by Rickenstein Sanchevict. He was created by the scientist with the intent on being an “all powerful” Rick that he could input his memories into and inhabit. Basically Rickenstein wanted a new body so he can take over some random (and not very populated) Citadel out in the multiverse… However, upon the creature suddenly awakening, Rickenstein was killed by his own creation, and the monster fled. Needless to say, Rickenstein was not…the brightest of Ricks… And his method of “capturing” the Ricks he used for his creation was blowing them up… Hence the body parts needing to be stitched together like that…
I decided to pair this Rick with Morty R-99 as his “Rick”. R-99 hates Ricks, don’t get me wrong, and he tends to kill those he comes across, though The Monster (referred to as “Hy-5” – (like “high five”)) sort of grows on him after they escape a prison together…
My reason for putting these two in the same story setting is due to their similarities in split personalities. Morty struggles with “Mind-Rip” whenever his head splits, and Hy-5 struggles with the remnants of the five other Ricks’ personality traits still “living” in his being. Though Hy-5 is more adjusted and accepting of his personalities, whereas R-99 tries to burry his (for good reason)...
A rundown of the Ricks who make up "The Monster":
-Hy-5 (head, lungs and brain) was an “average Rick” who’s lungs were modified to breath in toxic air, and who’s brain was supposed to be memory wiped; this trait is the strongest to present and is the most grounded.
-L-1030 (big arms and heart) was another “average Rick” who’s leftover body parts were mutated into the larger arm limbs; when this trait presents he tends to be a bit sweet.
-D-801 (multiple eyes) was cat-like in appearance who had excellent vision; this trait presents as aloof and pissy.
-V-269 (Bug arm(s) and the ability to camouflage) Steve… Just Steve… “I like strawberries and marshmallows in my chicken noodle soup!”
-F-207-A (guts, top arms, half a face, legs) was a strange creature Rick who was very fast and could jump very high; this trait is unpredictable and sometimes dangerous, basically another “evil Rick”…
Other aspects added by my sister @cosmosoddyssey: despite all of his modifications, Rickenstein forgot to make him bulletproof—He likes to get high—he can punch people with his “nub arm” and it grosses R-99 out—One of his nipples is crooked and it makes him self conscious… 😭 … Thanks Ody….
Anyway, I still am not set on his design. But I’ve been a bit stuck in “redesigning hell” with this guy and I was afraid I might never introduce him… So here are some developmental sketches, newest to oldest from left to right/top to bottom:
I do still kind of like his oldest design… But we’ll see what I eventually settle on…
