Sherlock: "Seven Hours In the Sun"
Sherlock: "Seven Hours In the Sun"
Summary: A man named Trevor Lynch saved the lives of Dr. John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. He didn’t plan on it. He’d never met them. He didn’t even know they existed.
Thoughts: Summary doesn't do this one any justice. I love John in peril, which is what this fic kicks off with. Sherlock & John are nearly frozen to death after a kidnapping & it changes their relationship when they get back home & can feel their extremities again.
This Sherlock lines up with what I think Sherlock might actually be like towards sex in the show. He doesn't want to really touch John, but he knows that he'd like to start a sexual relationship with him. John, clever & kind man that he is, doesn't push things, lets Sherlock establish the start of things, but slowly adds requests of his own that build up Sherlock's confidence to touch him.
The best part about all of this is their back & forth - the author has a good sense of their dialogue & without making Sherlock overly talky, she captures him perfectly. Him collecting specimens of John & then abandoning the evidence bags all over their post-coital bed rings very true to me - Sherlock has a single minded focus until he focuses on something else, evidence bags forgotten.
This is written very simply and I've read it a few times now. It hasn't lost any of it's appeal & is a nice short read.
Warnings: Slight medical kink
