Pulled this superb tribute album by Singapore singer Jacintha of the songs of James Taylor out of my SACD shelved. Jacintha isn’t backed by many of the musicians who originally back Taylor on the original albums, like Dean Parks, Leland Sklar, Jim Cox, Russ Kunkel, Tim Pierce, and Charlie Bisharat. She handles each by sticking pretty much to the original melodies, varying only in as much as her style differs from Taylor’s. The biggest exception is her opening to “Sweet Baby James” which she does a cappella for the initial verse before the sparse accompaniment she uses slides gently in. This Groove Note hybrid stereo SACD offers superb sonics. Jacintha’s voice is a thing of beauty, and each instrument has that realistic sense of trueness to the source you’d expect from a Groove Note production. A bit (OK, more than a bit) of a departure from her usual jazzy vocal albums, but one that will worm its way into your heart and have you pulling it regularly. Most highly recommended. #sacd #jacintha #hybriddisc #stereo #music #vocals #album #audio #highend #audiophile #digitalmusic https://www.instagram.com/p/B8uWAEcJzve/?igshid=12m12rcj3t1nl
