The Deck Is Stacked
-- bellicoseEminence [BE] began trolling blackCaricature [BC] at 21:58 -- BE: Good evening, Decima. BC: Dem!tr, Good even!ng.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.
Hybris: Hybris entered the room and shut the door behind him, leaning against it as he let out a long exhale. He clenches his fists and grabbed one of his sais, flinging it into the wall next to the window in a sudden fury. He dug his nails into the palm of his hands, drawing little beads of blood. He went over and sat on the edge of their bed and awaited his matesprit.
Decima: After a few minutes, Decima knocked twice before pushing the door open and closing it quietly behind her, setting the bottles of water on the nightstand. She untied the scrubtop and pulled it off of her, tossing it in a hamper against one of the walls, leaving her in a camisole tank and her scrub bottoms. She walks to stand in front of him where he sits, petting his head gently in a comforting way. "Hey you (heart)."
Hybris: "Hey." Was all he muttered out, not looking any particular direction, just looking ahead. He almost looked like he was zoned out. But, in reality, it was just crippling anger.
Decima: She stepped closer, hugging him close, putting his cheek on her abdomen from her stance. "Shh..." Decima rubbed his upper back, papping his shoulder some, trying to comfort him. She would stay silent, waiting to feel his muscles relax.
Hybris: His muscles only tightened, his nails digging through the fabric of his pants and into his flesh. "Fucking. I am just SO fucking done with everything." He stood up, gently pushing her away so he could do so.
Decima: She took the cue, stepping back and letting him move. His fury wasn't at her, and all she could do was let it run it's course, unfortunately. "What happened?" She asked, more air than sound in her inquiry.
Hybris: "Oh, you know, the usual. Some mutant comes in, immediately gets his fucking head lobbed off by domo arigato, Mister-fucking-Roboto out there for just being different."
Hybris: "So, I get pissed, then Ludere get's involved, as usual."
Hybris: "Which is fucking bullshit. He doesn't give a fuck about me, he just cares so fucking much about you!"
Hybris: He sighed, rubbing his temples. "I don't even know, Decima. I try so hard to help people. And all I get is lowbloods thinking i'm the enemy, and highbloods thinking i'm an idiot for not cashing in on it!"
Hybris: "So i'm either stuck in this room alone, or in here with you, because no one else fucking gives a shit! Why do I even try?!"
Hybris: "The only thing i'm gonna end up as is dead. And no one's gonna care but you." He plopped back down. "I'm just...fuck, i'm done fighting something that's so fucking futile."
Decima: "I don't think you mean that. You've always been willing to risk your life for what you believe in." Her tone was gentle, kneeling down in front of him so she was just a little under his eye level. "Your opinions aren't popular, and so it can only be expected to be ill-received."
Decima: "I don't think it's the proper reaction, but it's the majority of our world."
Hybris: "But where have my beliefs got me? No moirail, hardly any friends a shitton of enemies. it's a wonder that i'm even still alive with how many people want me dead."
Hybris: "No one is on my side."
Hybris: "And if they are, it's not for me"
Hybris: "There's just no use in fighting anymore. I was always so accepting of dying for the cause, y'know? Thought it would be 'honorable' or some fairy-tale bullshit like that."
Hybris: "But i'm just going to die without making a difference."
Decima: Her head tilts, not quite following everything he said. "I get that your tired, but you should never.... ever... compromise what you believe in. And if it's worth fighting for, then do. Maybe... it's just time for a change of tactics"
Hybris: "That IS the only tactic! you revolt, and you end up as a fucking martyr. And for what? For the people around you to say 'Well, damn. He died. Better go console his matesprit.'"
Hybris: "It has been made ABUNDANTLY clear that no one gives half a fuck about me."
Hybris: "So i'm done fighting for trolls who won't accept the help."
Hybris: "That's what i've been doing all my life, and it's just destroying myself and my relationships."
Decima: "What?!" She is genuinely suprised and taken aback by his comment about no one caring about him, but only her. "There are other ways to fight war than to stand on the front lines. It would be martyrdom, yes, but our society doesn't have enough respect for life for it to stick. Not since the times of our ancestors." Decima reaches up and touches his face. "I'm here for you, no matter what you chose to do, or not do, and I'm not going anywhere, ok?"
Hybris: "Well i'm glad i'll be around for your sake. Speaking of which, I don't want to see Ludere again. That little manipulative shit. He has the gall to look me dead in the eyes and tell me to back off, just so I can be alive for you. He literally asked me to choose between your heart and my morals. I know he's your friend, which is why I didn't go after him. But I want to fucking skin him ALIVE." He sighed roughly. "Maybe I'll start on our hive. Might as well make myself fucking useful."
Decima: "Hey... I didn't ask you to be around for me, Hybris. I actually said I would be there for you. I do hope it's still a mutual desire." She knew it was, and that they were fine.
When he talked about Ludere, her face set neutral. It was practiced calm, good at concealing the bubbling anger beginning to seethe in the pit of her stomach. To anyone else, it would be nothing, but he knew her and would see the that she was deeply bothered by the report.
Hybris: "Of course." He looked up at her, frowning as he realized that his words has maybe cut a bit deeper than he wanted. And definitely not the intended target. "Look...I'm sorry. I just don't like the combination of how close he is to you, and how much he obviously hates my fucking guts. Dude probably doesn't even want me in the picture."
Decima: "He's my friend, or at least he is suppose to be. Besides, unless there is something going on I am wholly unaware of, he is both unavailable and uninterested in me in any other fashion, so not wanting you in the picture can't begin to be an a thing." She was livid under the visage of calm, though none of the venom was directed at her matesprit.
"You don't have to apologize. If that's what he said, he had no right to put you in that situation. And on that fact, the point should be that your heart ACCEPTS your morals and loves you inclusive of them, not despite them, so he can fuck. off. in that regard." She growled before stopping herself.
Hybris: He looked up at her, frowning still. He reached forward and took one of her hands into his. "I love you." He said quietly, running his thumb over the back of her hand. "Look, we don't need any of this. We can just...go, y'know? I mean, i'm not saying we never come back here. But I think we need to have our own place to live, outside of here. We'd be away from the drama and fighting for however long we wanted. Most of the shit we put up with could just be avoided."
Decima: "I agree." She watched his thumb as it moved across her grey skin hypnotically. "We've needed our own space since I lost mine, and a bit of time away I believe will help you and I and Us clear our minds and get back on track. It sounds a lot like running, but you can't treat the cause if you are drowning in the symptoms, right? " Decima hangs her face, looking at their hands and the floor beyond, as she speaks.
Hybris: He cracked a small smile, leaning forward to meet her gaze. "Right." He brought her hand towards him and laid a kiss on the back of it. "So it's a deal, then. A fuckin' new chapter, right?"
Decima: She smiled up at him in, squeezing his hand back. The smile doesn't quite reach her eyes, however. "Deal. There's some open area between here and the coastline to the east, so not too far out of the way to the city for me. Maybe we can go take a look at it tomorrow? I'm just kind of done with today."
Hybris: "It's a date, then." He smiled, just a tad wider and gently pulled her back onto the bed for the most super hardcore cuddling you've ever fucking seen. Seriously, this shit is so fucking snuggly you would not even fucking believe.
