A recent study tracking the gut bacteria of infants and comapring them to later health outcomes found that infants whose families used antibacterial cleaners had a larger prevalence of bacteria in the family Lachnospiraceae in their gut flora. These same babies were more likely to be obese as toddlers. . . Lachnospiraceae are producers of butyric acid, which gives rancid butter its distinctive scent and which plays a number of roles in the immune, endocrine and nervous systems. It can make people more resistant to insulin, which is perhaps its most relevant role in this context. . . . . #gutflora #hygienehypothesis #goodbacteria #badbacteria #typetwodiabetes #cleaningproducts https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn9HEh2hPhz/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=15l547x9keyky
