The passing glance was unmistakable. It’d only been for a single moment, where the two’s eyes met--an instant that any other person might have not even paused or even noticed pass by. But this was far different, for the both of them. The ties between them were far, far deeper than perhaps even their blood could allow.
A clash of animosity and care that he could never quite shake.
It was hard for him to mask his own shock--after all, perhaps he could convince himself this place was some bizarre purgatory following his death, but with her presence, how could he continue to convince himself of that? Unless she had died shortly after he did, but that seemed far too convenient a possibility for him to believe.
“This is quite a surprise.” It took him no time at all time to steel himself once more. After all, considering the circumstances under which they last met, how else should he greet his sister, but with that very same coldness? “I had thought my arrival here a contained incident, but it seems I wasn’t the only one brought to this place.”
Perhaps fate truly was the one which decided on his return. Otherwise, why then, would it have brought the two of them back together again under such circumstances?
