Since Sonic seems to have a soft spot for the lil critters on his island, do you think he would kill any hunters if they tried to hunt the animals for sport/food/whatever?

I don't think he would end up killing them. I think he would handle them like in Sonic X and just stop his misdeeds. Sonic might be rough with Eggman because he knows what he's truly capable of, but if he just stops some randos from eating/killing/chasing his friends, that's good enough for him in my book.
