Hunting for the truth
Warning: There’s some interrogation/torture scenes involved. If you’re squeamish about it, do not read on!
Aleyanna had spent the better part of the past couple of days getting the prisoner thawed out, and set up for the interrogation of the rogue Whispers Agent. Zaffi as she was referred to was still asleep, after having been unfrozen from her chamber that she was brought in on. The gear she had on her was confiscated and ready for pickup from the Hyper Chaotic Security representative that would be arriving shortly. She had been out for a couple of days, but now, she was starting to stir. And soon, she would see the predicament she was in.
The representative, Naukka, made her way to the interrogation site. “Good evening, Aleyanna,” she remarked.
“Hello, Naukka,” the operative replied. “When we unthawed her, we found this magitech gear on her. I'm not sure who it belongs to, but you may wish to scan it for any bugs or viruses before returning it. Now, before we begin, does Kiros have any requests in regards to how this proceeds and what we do with her afterwards?"
“If he did, he didn’t relay them to me,” Naukka replied as she shook her head.
Aleyanna turned to Zaffi who had finally awoken and was getting herself into a seated position in the cell. "Good, I was wondering when you would awake. Do not ask where you are, for that is irrelevant. All you need to know is, this is the end for you."
“Good, I was beginning to get tired of Tyria anyway,” Zaffi replied with a smug grin.
"Let's make one thing clear. Any snide remarks will be met with electricity." Aleyanna looked to Naukka with a slight nod as she turned back to Zaffi. "Now, why exactly did you believe it was a sound idea to turn traitor from the Order? Did you really believe you would have been able to get far without us experienced personnel knowing?"
“Well I went all around Tyria for fifteen years before someone came after me. Of course, if the progeny hadn’t ran to her mother, I’d still be under your radar,” Zaffi replied with a smirk. She didn’t care about the electrocution threats. Naukka just glared, threatening to flip the switch.
Aleyanna looked to Zaffi. "Regardless, as I understand, you had kidnapped a friend from a krewe I work with. Care to explain why?"
“The resentful runt,” she giggled. “Why do you want to know though?”
Naukka flipped the switch on for two seconds. “Answer the question.”
Zaffi jolted in place then huffed when it was over. “C-come on, I’ve been emolated worse than that. Fine, Nero will be happy to be gone with me anyway.”
"What was the motivation behind kidnapping Arya, and tormenting her?" Aleyanna asked.
“The motivation? She was the problem. She’d stolen what was rightfully the Volcan’s Warband inheritance, and they wanted it back after twenty years. It went badly, so many fires. All those charred bodies, so many prisoners, so many screaming souls...”
"So why work with the Flame Legion? Especially since they're not too keen to cooperate with females,” Aleyanna remarked.
“They aren’t keen on working with females of their kind. But I offered them a service they couldn’t turn down,” Zaffi replied.
“What services did you offer this Nero character?” Naukka inquired.
“Hobbled together devices which could detect bursts of powerful magic. It was useful in finding her. But thanks to some dolts who ruined my lab, that is all ruined and useless,” Zaffi answered.
"Do you know where Nero has his base of operations?" Aleyanna asked.
Zaffi thought for a moment, but Naukka was quicker as she flipped the switch for three seconds, presumably in response to the dolts remark. Zaffi jolted, and remarked, “Whoops, I forgot. Thanks, switch flipper.”
Naukka glared. “You know as well as I do that Nero is a Flame Legion Tribune.”
It was at that point that Veynn came strolling in and made her way behind Zaffi. “In that case, it’s easy to find Nero. Maybe we should take you to him so he can be reunited with his failure.”
“The more you flip the switch, the less I talk,” Zaffi remarked.
“Then talk,” Naukka replied as her hand left the switch. Zaffi gave a dark grin before answering, “Ever since Baelfire’s demise, his warband took over. Since I will obviously perish shortly, I’d like to see him join me. Just so I can cut off his head in the Mists.”
"Is there anything else you would like to add?" Aleyanna asked.
“Actually, yes. For an Agent of the Whispers, you don’t know what you’re doing, do you. Electrocution was phased out years ago. Try toxin and antidote or water torture next time. And get a better assistant,” Zaffi replied with a smug grin.
"It's lightbringer. Get it right," Aleyanna snarled as she turned to Naukka and Veynn. "So, what do we do with her?"
“I say keep her alive, she can be of use,” Naukka replied.
“I’m sure she will be, but we don’t need her in this state. Want to be a subject for a mad hybrid scientist? Perhaps being half spider would suit you?” Veynn asked.
“Half spider? I’m already a full psycopath, it would be all the more fun,” Zaffi remarked.
“Depends on what gets replaced. I never said Gweynn thinks things through,” Veynn remarked.
“Whatever, I’m cannon fodder. Do what you want,” Zaffi said.
“It’d be a shame for you to miss out on giving Nero a piece of your mind,” Veynn replied.
"Veynn, can you keep her locked up and secure back at the lab?" Aleyanna asked.
“Can do one better, can keep her locked up at Gweynn’s lab,” Veynn replied.
"Do that then until you go after Nero,” was Aleyanna’s reply.
“Aye.”
“It is settled then. Good evening,” Naukka remarked as she stepped out.
