Trousseau's Sign
Trousseau's Sign of Latent Tetany is a graceful wrist flexion with extension at the DIP and PIP joints and adduction of the fingers. It can be elicited in patients with hyperreflexia or hyperexcitability due most often to hypocalcemia.
Trousseau sign is far preferred over the Chvostek sign (which is only elicited in 25% of patients with tetany due to hypocalcemia or hypomagnesemia) and so the face tapping of the Chvostek is often dismissed in favor of the the lilting wrist flexing Trousseau induced by BP cuff occluding the brachial artery despite how overtly effeminate the result.
