How to hypnotize a lizard:

Catch a lizard. Preferably Western or Pacific Fence Lizard and male because their vests are brighter. Also works with skinks and geckos. But they don't have beautiful blue vests.

Gently hold the lizard with your thumb and pointer finger by pinching the head near the shoulders. Flip lizard so the belly is exposed, cradling the body in the palm of your hand.

Gently stroke belly with the grain of the scales using a fingertip.

Lizard will become hypnotized and docile, gently closing its eyes and becoming motionless.

Lizard is now hypnotized. Do with it, humanely, what you wish.

When I was a kid I thought I was just calming them down by petting them, since it's something that I just did of my own accord. It's since been explained that doing this cuts off the blood flow to their little brains and I was putting them in mini comas.
