hystagram--Window>histogram--change from 'colors' to luminosity.
most images are known as 'eight bit per channel' that means 256 luminescence levels per channel (red blue green)
window>channels- brings up channels menu to view the RGB in the image. if the three are the same we have a greyscale image.
jagged color transitions are known as color noise
'targeted adjustment tool' in the properties: Hue/Saturation window-select an area, only there gets edited
Hue/Saturation window>colorize check box-over all color, colors everything that shade
sepia tones-yellow/orange tones, -20 brightness, 60 contrast
brighten shadows-select the layer you want, click the thumbnail, choose adjustments>shadows/highlights FX button, botton of layers panel, overlays affect on current layer
