Amsterdam lets go! #HYTEade
Blown away by these four days of #HYTEade. Once again this city has proven itself as one of the electronic music capitals of the world - you can see the passion in on each and every face on dancefloors across the city, you can feel it in the air. Thank you to friends and strangers that joined us from all corners of the globe, to all the incredible artists that brought their absolute best, to @warehouseelementenstraat for providing this sanctuary for us to enjoy, and to you Amsterdam for welcoming all of us into this incredible city. #keepdancingwithus @amsterdamdanceevent
maestro @holaguti in the mix... #HYTEade (at Warehouse Elementenstraat)
With Us In Amsterdam // HENRIK SCHWARZ
1. When was the first time you played in Amsterdam?
The first time I played in Amsterdam was probably the first time I was playing out and touring. I don’t remember exactly when it was, but it would probably have been around 2003 or 2004.
2. What is your fondest ADE memory?
There have been quite a few special ADE memories. One highlight was last year for the Trouwevent at The Royal Concertgebouw. This was at a big concert hall with the The Dutch Chamber Orchestra. A load of techno lovers came and listened to a 40 piece orchestra playing my music, orchestrated by me. This was very special.
3. What do you think of when you think of a “Warehouse Party?” What does that mean to you?
That is an interesting question. To me, a Warehouse Party is the essence of electronic music culture. Where you can just have a room which is however you want it to be—big speakers and simple lights and everyone is all in the same place and dancing together.
This improvisation is what our culture is all about.
4. Anything special you have planned for your ADE set this year?
As I’m playing a few different parties this year, I am trying to plan something special for each of these. And I’m afraid I’m keep the surprises secret for now. You’ll have to come down and see.
5. What’s your favourite thing to do in Amsterdam (that isn’t performing?)
The funny thing is that, although I’ve been to Amsterdam over a thousand times or more, I’ve only ever really performed and played music. I don’t have time to do anything else…. But if I had to say, I’d say eat great food.
