I want to believe that societies become more progressive and further embody the ideals of equality/fairness/intelligence as time goes on. I want to believe that technology and modern education systems are teaching people to become more compassionate and reasonable. But if climate denial and Brexit and Trump and Covid and tonight's results have taught me anything it's that we haven't gotten any better. We have arguably gotten worse over the last few decades. And it's so painful to witness.
