I've dipped my toes into some Marvel movies recently and, unfortunately, I have grown fond of the patriotic himbo and his KGB wife.
For the first time in four years I’ve been struck by inspiration for an OC story and now I need to figure out how to write prose
Laois!
Another addition to the blonde haired sweet boys you consistently draw lol!! :D
Adding him to the list!!
Nah, genuine question, I hadn't ever considered it and wondered what could cause such a situation to arise
oh, well in that case!!
basically it all comes down to the fact that the radiance is a goddess of dreams, and as such, i think she's the sort of person who values imagination and freedom of expression above all else. or at least, she used to be. she rules over a realm that is not bound by logic, where bugs are free to be their truest selves without consequence, and i think that's ultimately what she stood for before she went mad over the loss of her followers.
so, i imagine that when she was first sealed inside the hollow knight, in addition to being angry as hell, she'd also be a little bit horrified by the pure vessel's existence. the fact that the wyrm would be so heartless as to strip his own child of all autonomy and individuality, to turn it into a mindless weapon, would be appalling and insulting to her (and definitely much worse than anything she has ever done, in her very biased opinion). so i think she'd initially see hollow not as her enemy, but as a fellow victim. someone who, like her, has been unfairly shackled and hidden away and deliberately forgotten. someone who should be on HER side!
of course, her main priority would still be escape, so breaking her living prison would be necessary. but she wouldn't do it out of cruelty. if anything, she would do it with a twisted sense of justice-- in her mind, she will give back the freedom of imagination that the pale king tried to steal from his poor child! she will show them how to think and feel and hope and dream! even if they are trapped and locked away in reality, in the dream realm she will give them any and everything that pk tried to deprive them of.
at first, she'd do it mostly out of spite. bc she is lonely and bitter and angry, and she would get so much satisfaction from taking this 'pure vessel' that pk tried so hard to choke the life out of, and corrupting it with illogical, irrational joy and whimsy. she would get satisfaction from destroying the false notions of 'purity', and teaching hollow that their so called 'flaws' are in fact strengths that they should be proud of. she would get satisfaction from making them feel stronger and more confident than pk ever did.
and then she'd start to get satisfaction just from seeing hollow grow as a person. from seeing them make choices and express opinions and show their emotions without fear or shame. she'd start to get satisfaction just from seeing them be happy.
and at some point it'd stop being about spiting the pale king, and start being about just genuinely caring about hollow as a person.
and by that point, if hollow chooses to take the mind and voice and will that the radiance herself has taught them to nurture and cherish, and they use it to quietly but firmly demand that she stop hurting people... by then, maybe she will listen.
(or maybe they will still destroy each other, and it will only hurt them both that much more)
