Yaay, I'm also a Josh and Sam shipper. I wonder why didn't they get together. And we've got a lot of Josh x reader/Sam x reader content. But if they like each other, would they fall for someone else? I'm mostly confused here because I have a hard time understanding this type of emotional/social context.

Well As for why we get so much Josh/Reader and Sam/Reader stuff is cause we can all agree Josh and Sam are hella hot and we’d wanna date/fuck them. And honestly, we don't know in canon how they felt for each other. Like we never saw them interact before Hannah and Beth die, and in the credits, Sam admits she thought they “had a connection” but that could mean anything really.

Like I think I have very strong and intimate connections with my friends for who I have absolutely Zero romantic feelings. It's a pretty common thing to connect with people platonically. Plus they have the added bonus of being connected by grief, which would draw them together.

And as for why there aren't more shippers its cause it could be seen as a bit of a toxic relationship. We know Josh could confide in Sam but we don't know if Sam could confide in Josh. Given also his unstable mental state it could be a relationship more about Sam taking care of Josh than it being a partnership. And people who don't ship it for that reason, you're valid. Also, relationships that start because of shared grief are... tricky. It can be unhealthy to depend on ONE person to help you through your issues, so if they were to get together in canon (if we get exorcism!Josh, or rescued!Josh) I would like it if they got together a few years after the events of the game. When they both have learned how to work through their issues but also stayed in touch and help out the other when they could. Starting romantic relationships when your that traumatized/hurting just is not healhty.

But I think there's defo a possibility in an AU or sorts (like is Hannah and Beth never died) that they would have feelings for each other but not pursue it (Josh thinking he’d just fuck up Sam’s life with his issues, Sam thinking that Josh is just flirting cause he flirts with everyone and there's no way he’d like her) and they’d pass like ships in the night. Maybe they’d fall in lover another day/way. Maybe Sam gets engaged and Josh is invited and he’s like “oh well I list my chance” and unknown to him Sam’s like “I wonder if” and Hannah and Beth are like “theses FUCKING IDIOTS” and then they get together. lol that be cute.

Anyways idk if my rambling helps? but I hope it did? Relationships are weird (romantic and platonic) cause they can go wrong is so many ways and just leaven both people in it more hurt than when they started, which is why you gotta be careful what you rush into. (not saying never do it and it's never healthy, but you gotta think about your own mental health and prioritize your wellbeing first).
