A2 of Pye’s 1972 cash-in EP of early Bowie tracks is I Dig Everything. This release came in the wake of Bowie’s breakthrough with Ziggy Stardust and Pye was Bowie’s record company back in 1966 during his mod days. So, in October 1972 Pye released a four track EP called: For The Collector Early David Bowie. The second track of the A Side was Bowie’s sixth single from August 1966. It is also Bowie’s final single of this earliest recording period. I Dig Anything is a proto-hippy track of affirmative dissent. The Hammond organ - used on his previous single - now takes centre stage. The Buzz – his backing band at the time - are not the musicians here however, the first attempt at recording the single with them abandoned and sessions musicians brought in. It’s a gas - sophisticated percussion sashaying the track onwards and a great vocal performance of knowing lyrics.
