          Aphee’uu is good at words, but he is no good at hunt. Bukh’kumun is no good at words, but he is good at hunt. Bukh’kumun find Aphee’uu, he is watching shuvuu young like hunter. No, no, he is no good hunter. Shuvuu will see Aphee’uu. Shuvuu will hurt Aphee’uu. That is no good. Aphee’uu is friend. Friend hurt is no good. Bukh’kumun will do the help. He picks up Aphee’uu. Aphee’uu is bigger than Ahk, but he is light. It is easy to catch Aphee’uu. Now they run, before shuvuu come to hurt, come to help their young.

          They are safe now. No shuvuu nest close. Bukh’kumun puts Aphee’uu down. “Aphee’uu... hunt no good,” he tells Aphee’uu. “Shuvuu smell Aphee’uu. Smell hunter, no hunt.”

          His tail moves back and forth in his thinking as he looks Aphee’uu up and down. He smells the soft-horn for blood. “...Aphee’uu... no hurt?”
