Characters in Media are often compared to different Characters Whether they have a similar backstory, appearance, or Personality. The Comparison of characters have been happening In Fandom spaces for years. Its not a new concept however not Many People Compare Shakespeare characters to Characters in Modern media, however despite the time difference they are Similar. Lady Macbeth and Light yagami. This essay will compare their Personalities, backstory and Motives. comparing and contrasting them.

Overall characters personalities are, the Most compared thing, Many tropes rely on personality traits. Despite the time however, personality is a Constant. Light is often described as Smart and Lawful however his personality Shifts after he gains power he is More Manipulative than he was before picking up the death note. Lady Macbeth did not have a drastic change, she had always been Manipulative it had gotten worse after she had heard the Prophecy. They both have Strong Personalities and know how to use this power to gain insight on get What they want from others. Light Uses this to Manipulate Misa into helping him Kill L, lady Macbeth Manipulates Macbeth into Killing Duncan. They have Similar Personalities and are powerful people.

Backstories are important, oftentimes the past affects Who the character is now. Light had a good childhood his dad is a cop with a Strong sense Of Morality. Light gained a Strong Sense Of Justice Making him want to be a CoP. Light Picked up the death note not realizing the Power he would gain. He used it to kill criminals at first for the world's gain but then he used it to kill anyone who got in his way, Self proclaimed "god of the now world", Lady Macbeth began killing For personal gains, She grew up in a Rich household. Not Much is Stated regarding her backstory however for someone to resort to Murder to get what She wants that Must be Influenced by previous events, when it comes to backstory they aren't Similar besides both coming from financially Stable Families.

The Motives is a big piece to learning about a Character. Light killed People For Justice before later killing for his own personal gain. Lady Macbeth Killed for her husband's gain however it was also for selfish reasons. She wanted Power manipulating others for Personal gain. Despite Motives not being the same at the start they later became the Same Both doing things to protect themselves turning greedy.

overall they are Similar Characters despite being From different times. They have similar goals, personalities and Motives. An Interesting comparison yet a fitting one nonetheless. Overall if you compare the plot of Death note to the story of Macbeth there are shocking similarities. The stories despite being centuries apart are similar in aspects and the characters reflect that.
