Over the last couple of months, I have been coming to the slow-motion-car-crash type of realization that I have spent much of my life (especially in my career) making men that I do NOT like comfortable. This is often in an effort to reduce potential friction, or increase the likelihood of my own success when it comes to dealing with men in a position of power. I also did this when dating, specifically out of fear. You don’t want to be a woman alone and dealing with an agitated man. I long learned my lesson there.
This is especially relevant on the heels of my recent raise. I can’t really detail out why, but suffice to say the above is the way I handle interactions with my boss, and it’s yielded me a surprisingly good review (he doesn’t seem to like any of his employees) and a higher % raise than average.
I also have a neurology appointment I’ve been dreading, because the guy likes to wax poetic about what a good patient I am since I’m “teachable” and I “listen to learn” aka I tell him what a good doctor he is, claim never to google anything, and placate his request that I use only specific terminology he has approved to describe my symptoms until he gives me what I want.
The sad thing is that I will probably never get out of this cycle, because the alternative only makes my life harder, my ascent up the corporate ladder shorter, and my salary smaller.
woman to woman: never forget how much men hate you.
I went down to fill the pantry with pads and tampons, fluffy socks, lip glosses, mini glitter vanilla lotions, deodorant, and travel toothbrush kits that I bought and arranged into sets last week as I do 4x every year and as soon as I sat down to enjoy the soup kitchens ramen bowl a man came and started filling his backpacks with my kits and I was so mad I was red and shaking and screamed at him to put them back exactly like they were and never fucking take women's products. he was laughing idiotically like ohhh oops sorry I didn't know and started putting them back messily. I barely held back my punches because I would have gone directly to prison
I hate men, I really hate them, I hate them so much that I feel my hatred alone isn't enough
