Having rich family is so wild dawg

Like if I can't attend a family gathering because of work or in the past school, they treat it like I never wanted to go in the first place. And since I've missed quite a few events over the past 4 years because of schooling, work, or in some cases living across the damn country, my family has decided I don't care to be invited to shit. (They also plan things like 2 days in advance so I would never have time to inform my work in a timely manner)

Asked about a memorial for a family member who died and we hold a yearly vigil for, they said they didn't bother inviting me because I hadn't come the past few years. Like yeah dawg I was in college and you always hosted it early afternoon on a fucking weekday?!

They have this attitude of "if you care enough, you'll make it work" because THEY can afford to lose a days wages, THEY can afford to let their boss know they're taking the day off without a risk to their job, THEY have so much money at their disposal travel is a non issue. And if they can't even have the basic empathy for their working class family member in understanding I don't have the privilege of taking off work with just a days notice, how can we expect people of this class to have empathy for the common worker they don't know?

So LET ME JUST SAY if you live in a very nice house with a very nice yard in a very nice town YOU ARE PRIVILEGED AND HAVE SO MUCH MORE FREEDOM TO DO WHAT YOU WISH THAN MOST AMERICANS. AND YES THIS APPLIES EVEN IF YOURE NOT A MILLIONAIRE. This is not a judgement of your moral virtue at all, rather a plea to do some introspection and have some understanding for those in the working class, whether family or not
