Current base, near a plains village boxed in a hilly forest, spruce forest, and swamp. This kind-of crack in the ground is across a river from the village, where the noise from “hrmm”ing and livestock isn’t a bother, and a small, open passthrough of a wannabe cave makes a tidy little residence, once walled in with some logs and glass block. The grotto parts and back exit looked like great places to make into specimen gardens, so that’s what happened.
The trouble with me and screenshots/posts is that these were taken on Saturday, and Sunday, I’d remembered I’d found some moss blocks in a couple of sunken treasure chests, and these shots are already out of date. The moss blocks (+ bonemeal) are really, really, really good improvements.
The vines were harvested from the nearby swamp, and the glow berry bushes came from berries found in minecart chests. The moss blocks did spawn a couple of azalea bushes from the bonemeal, but I have yet to actually find a lush cave. The dripstone came from the riverbed, right behind me in the first shot, although I’ve seen some in an abandoned mine, as well. I’ve got jungle wood logs, have lived in two jungle villages in this world already, farmed cocoa beans in both, but never added any to my traveling seed bundle so I could farm them here. I am a fool.
If you play in a survival mode where you need to eat, I cannot recommend enough to build a base next to water with axolotls in it. They’ll be in rivers or lakes if there’s an opening to a cave somewhere underwater, and if you see glow squid, you should have axolotls, too. I’ve got at least three for ‘neighbors’, and they’re forever leaving me free salmon and glow squid ink. All I have to do is swim out and collect it. Cute little murder machines.
Have I mentioned that you may feel free to drop pictures involving corsets into my inbox and I will not be upset?
I may need to hijack the sunglasses from my brothers girlfriend.
