Nightmares often occurred due to Cloud's past traumas. No matter what, nothing came easy. The demons that haunted him never really left. Reminders of SOLIDER lived right in his eyes. The mako, the Jenova cells lived inside him forever. Sephiroth. He's never truly gone. Cloud made peace with that over time, but that doesn't mean he wasn't in pain anymore.

Cloud could feel him put a strain on his body. He whispered reminders of his failures. Cloud could see his loved ones in pain, witnessing again everything he lost. His body shook and unknown to him, he was sweating profusely. The pains from his dreams felt so real, he was going to fade away... nothing could save him. Just when everything was sinking into black, a sharp tug brought him to wake up. His breath was heavy and cool water was being spread on his neck and shoulders.

Looking at his side it was Kasumi. She was wiping down his sweat all while holding him. Just like that, he felt his body calm. He wondered if he was too heavy, but she seemed to be handling it all with a smile. ❝ Thank you, Kasumi. ❞ He wished to say more, but he felt like his body was recovering from running a marathon. Cloud was happy to be consoled, happy to be held.

Nothing needed to be said. Her warm touch, the soft embrace, his heart could truly rest against her.
