Hello, I’m not sure whether someone has asked you that question before but I wonder if you have any thoughts on why Harry always gets the harshest treatment? I wouldn’t call myself a directioner, I am in Harry, Louis and Niall fandoms and it seems like Harry gets shit for everything he does. Even recently when Niall posted pics of himself from Portugal after Christmas with his girlfriend, everyone was happy and exited for him and no one was angry. But I remember how people were calling Harry exploitative because they saw Eternals as cash grab since he’s there at the end of the movie. Why do you think the whole thing looks like that?
Oh, that’s the million dollar question, darling. I think it mostly boils down to Harry having the most commercial success and the most opportunities vs the others. The more someone succeeds, the more some people feel the need to tear them down. Some people prefer to be on the side of the underdog and act as though anyone who’s reached a certain level of success is somehow “sus” and must have cheated/bought/stepped over others in a malicious way to achieve this success. Therefore Harry is deserving of all criticism.
I’m not saying he should never be criticized. I don’t love everything he does. But the bulk of what I see is exaggerated and almost all of it is stuff I see ignored when it comes to the others.
And I’m sure there are other reasons why people criticize him endlessly, but more and more what I see is a whole lot of hypocrisy. Harry shouldn’t travel, but it’s fine for Niall. Harry shouldn’t tour, but it’s fine for Louis. Harry golfing is elitist, but it’s fine for Niall. The list is a mile long. Blah blah blah.
As I’ve said before, hold them all accountable in the same way, and hold yourself to the same standards, or stop pointing fingers.
