' okay, she did tell them they were facing a neat little poltergeist problem here, but in reality, as it turned out . . . it was just a bar. a loud one. packed. rowdy and buzzing. exactly her kind of place. ruby pushes herself off the counter, drifting closer, bottle lifting to plump lips.
' you look disappointed. ' amusement coating those words, ' what, you were hoping for flying knives or somethin' ? relax, sammy. ' she draws their name out on purpose, watching for their reaction and crooks her smirk. music swelling around them. she takes a sip. ' for once, you don't have to save anyone. no last-minute guilt spiral. no big moral crisis ─ how about we try somethin' new, huh ? little bonding time that doesn't involve exorcisms ? ' lips curling again, just enough to show teeth this time. ' c'mon, have a sip. i paid for it. '
