He used to see him as his ECLIPSE. The path he’d yet to walk -- a mile, he’d yet to take. Not the gentle dip of a sun as it greets the DUSK; rather the moon darkening their solar daylight; embracing them all in shades. The Darklands would have seen fit to steal his -- their -- light. But he remained. He walked as Icarus did grounded; knowledgeable that the sun was out of his reach and wings scorched. Burnt, but spared.WHAT DID HIS HALF WALK OUT WITH?
“Jim,” he’s still a sun-kissed boy, blessed with brightness as the wide-eyed optimist with grand heroism to save and sacrifice brimming. But he’s changed: he’s grown. He’s hurt. All pushed aside, naturally, for.. him. “I saw the darkness. I saw HIM.”
Hands softly clasp over the boy’s own, squeezing gently. Reassuring, though if it was for him or himself, it wasn’t known.
“I was so.. I left. I went alone. Alone! What was I thinking?” He knew what he had been thinking; yet still his tone was vitriolic. His grip tightened just a touch. “Please tell me.. how does it end? it doesn’t feel like it’s ever going to.”
