No one asked, but here's a timelapse of the torture that was drawing Dante for my Ice Cream Treat post (omg the bold underlined words link to the post because I can't reblog with a video :O)

I did try to give him his ice cream, but I got so frustrated I said "no" Also said "fuck you" to his jacket because he has so many variants and I couldn't decide what to draw him in.

My brother said that the drawing took so long he ended up eating it all LMAO

I gotta do some Dante studies...

I'll probably post V's speedraw later because I'm very proud of that one and it was, surprisingly, the most fun .w. (hand drawing his markings was surprisingly my favorite part)

Most important thing you learned about digital art so far?

Oh... I’m probably a bad person for this because I’m so new to it. The most important thing I’ve learned so far is probably mess around with your canvas size AFTER you have the purely the pose sketched out (no details, or anything like it’s just a fancy stick figure). My drawings were super pixelated at first and I couldn’t get the clarity or detail I wanted in it and to drove me nuts until I figured out why. Generally I’ll sketch something out, stretch the canvas out until the layers available drop passed 250 (I like to keep 250 available but that’s just me), and then I’ll go back to my layer with the sketch and stretch that until it fits the canvas how I want. If that becomes blurry in the process it’s kinda of whatever because it’s purely a rough outline and it’s still legible. Then you can actually get to sketching and drawing the rest, knowing you are safe making the size of you brush bigger and your drawing will be clear and not pixelated.

Oh and I like to duplicate my lineart layer and on the second layer do a smidge of Gaussian blur for ✨spice✨ and softness. Oh and don’t makes your lineart so thick it will get you in trouble. Oh and alpha lock your lineart so if black or whatever color is too harsh or soft, you can easily recolor it. :D

Since I'm gonna be snatched for a couple days by some friends, I'm gonna share the V timelapse sooner than I was planning to, just so that I don't forget :D

This is a timelapse of the finished piece for V from the Ice Cream Treats (linked) post. Unlike the Dante speedraw (haha linked), this was surprisingly fun

and I thought I'd have the worst time with this LMAO

Out of all of the characters, I genuinely thought V would be the hardest and Dante would be the easiest.

WELL...THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. Vergil? Oh I'd struggle with his hair and coat- oh, nope, that was easy. Nero? Oh, I'd struggle with his hair since it's so short- oh, no, that was fine (mostly based on my version of him) V? Oh, I'd struggle with all his markings- oh, nope, that was the fun part (hated drawing the clothes tho, I just wanted to draw the marks). Dante? Oh, he'll be easy, I can do that- WHY ARE YOU SO HARD TO DRAWWWWW

This bitch don't know how to eat a burger, he definitely doesn't understand ice cream LMAO

Are the markings accurate? No, but I was mostly using the Visions of V drawings as a reference (since it has the most angles accessible to see his marks), and they take some liberties since...well, that's a lotta details, so I did as well.

I thought it'd be fun if I referenced his familiar UI in the game for his hand, even if it's VERY subtle in the final piece.

Alright, no more speed draws from me (unless you want the others, but this one and Dante's were the only ones that stood out to me as the MOST fun and the LEAST fun.
