Welcome to ‘Max Plays’, a gaming segment where I play through a story-focused video game and examine the way that it builds a narrative. I also crack jokes. Sometimes. The game you’re watching today is The Walking Dead (Season 1) by Telltale Games, a point-and-click adventure game inspired by Robert Kirkman’s comic book of the same name.
In this game our mission is simple: PROTECT CLEM AT ALL COSTS.

"DAMN IT I'M OUT OF IRON AGAIN!" William shouted, bashing a paw on the keyboard. He had been trying to defeat The Twins in Terraria for most of the night, with every attempt dwindling his supply of items to craft the boss summon, along with the ammo needed to defeat the pair of bosses. "Gah, I give up..." The cat tossed his headset onto the desk, trying not to let his frustration get the best of him. He then looked at his clock, which showed the current time; 1:42. "Oh, you've gotta be kidding me... Well, that's what I get for spending all of my day off playing games..." The thing was, William didn't even feel tired at the moment. It might have been the fact that he had drank some coffee a bit late in the day, but he simply didn't feel tired. Regardless, the cat powered off his desktop computer and stood up, stretching his arms out. He then walked over to his bed and sat down. It had been a long day off, that's for sure. Not very eventful, though, since it was mostly just him playing games on his PC. William laid down in his bed, pulling the covers up to his chest. After a few moments, he began to grow very tired, and quickly. It wasn't too long before his eyes fluttered shut, his consciousness fading. Soon, he was fully asleep, pulling the covers up over his shoulders in his unconscious attempts to keep comfortable.
He was in the middle of writing his journal when the corners of his vision began to crawl with black, and before he could stand and clear his vision, it swallowed his sight and the world went cold.
When he awoke, slumped against his desk and head hurting from slamming down into it, he realized that his vision was different. His hands felt heavier, his shoulders weighted. He reached up and felt his face, then nearly laughed as his fingers came into contact with fangs.
"I'm back."
