perspective
i understand that people are different
and people have different experiences in their lives that have led them to this very point.
and, on top of that, that people have different coping mechanisms for dealing with whatever experiences they've dealt with.
and i really, really am not interested in playing the "my life experiences have been harder than your life experiences!" game, i'm really not.
but when i see someone's completely overblown and over top reaction to something that in a year, five years, ten years from now they won't even remember
i always think one thing:
"if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you, you are blessed."
and that's bitchy. and it's being short-sighted and it's being un-understanding (shut up, too much bourbon).
but i can't help it.
are things frustrating? yes. can something that is really, honestly inconsequential be upsetting enough to cause tears? yes, of course.
i cry over stupid shit. i get angry over stupid shit.
but i move on. because you know what? breaking a nail, or not getting tickets to a one-night show, or plans with a friend falling through, that all sucks.
but so does losing a home. or your health. or a parent, or sibling or best friend. so does being abused, or having your car or purse stolen or getting fired.
guess which one you're going to remember 5 years from now.
