Something I think about too often is a conversation I had with my closest friend a few years ago.

The lotto was really big and everyone was buying a ticket because what if. And I talked about the charities I'd donate to, the programs I'd set up to help others, the list of people I know personally and the things I'd specifically help them with. I included them because of course I would.

They told me about the people in their life they'd give money to. I wasn't mentioned but I said nothing. After a moment of silence they told me I wasn't on their list. They'd never even considered me. And that if they were being honest they still wouldn't add me to their list even knowing they were on mine.

I laughed. Of course they wouldn't. Why would they? I told them it was cool. I'm not on anyone's list, I know that.

And the conversation drifted in another direction.

But I still think about that.

anyone else know what it's like experiencing someone telling you that they're not important, and when you tell them that they're important to you,,, it's just not addressed or acknowledged at all 😶 i don't think i'm ever going to be important to anyone
