Ahhh thank you! Classics au is actually born of nostalgia and longing for a life I wish I could have lived. There are a lot of reasons I didn't pursue a PhD in Classics, as I know it would likely have made me miserable, but part of me will always regret that path not taken. Instead I went to get a combination business and information science masters degree in order to work in tech, and weirdly enough that made me miserable too. I tried to work in local government at the public defender's office, and that made me most miserable of all. I have just struggled to find a job that doesn't drive me to drink or worse lmao
I stopped being miserable when I moved out of the city, back to the farm where I was a little kid before moving to town for prep school (my father's family has farmed here for many generations). I guess your mental picture needs to reflect the fact that I now live as a recluse with my two cats on 20 acres of farmland (@farm-tm has pictures of the fields in my back yard). I mostly fill the time that I'm not writing pretentious, dirty star wars novels with reading through the hundreds and hundreds of unread books in my library, some painting, baking, and keeping house too. So basically as far from Professor Kenobi as it's possible to get, though obviously that potential life still remains a part of me.
