In case nobody has read/heard The Collectors, it was a little mini spin-off of the HDM universe for Mrs. Coulter. I understand if most haven’t paid much attention to it cause it was an audiobook, and even I personally, despite being Mrs. Coulter trash, haven’t gone through all of it. But the gist is that two old men discuss the piece of art one has collected --a painting and a statue of a bronze monkey-- and the misfortune that befalls those who happened to acquire both. Grinstead, one of the men, recognizes the woman in the painting as a young, 18 year old Mrs. Coulter. We get a bit of info on how time works differently in different universes, etc etc, and then as Grinstead’s colleague attempts to open the box with the bronze monkey in it, he suddenly experiences an almost allergic reaction. Grinstead leaves to “find help” but instead lets the man die, goes back and retrieves the painting, and then gets hit by a taxi on his way out.
So that means Mrs. Coulter literally has a cursed painting floating around in our universe that kills people who comes into possession of it. I could expand and talk about how nobody owns Mrs. Coulter, but I’m more concerned with the fact that she can kill people across universes via a fucking painting. A fucking painting! What the fuck, Marisa? What the actual fuck?
