"So..." She awkwardly takes a small box from behind her back, offering it to Harley so she could open it.
"Happy Birthday...it's kinda corny, but I just..."
If Harley was to open the box, she would realize it contained necklaces that did matchies- zombie-themed. They were shaped in a heart in two parts, one of them being a pink brain, and the other a green and damaged zombie skin.
"You know how we met more properly at the arcade and stuff? I thought it would be fitting. You can choose whatever part you like most, although something tells me you will choose the pink brain."
It was kinda difficult for Ame to pick something that wasn't just something they already bought in-between, but deep inside she was a little proud of the originality or recalling back to their encounter.
"I love you."
Harley perks up when she sees the box, her eyes lighting up like a soon struck match.
"Ooooh, a birthday present! I don't care if it's corny, I wanna seeee~!" She snatches the box in a single swipe, opening it up to find the matching zombie necklaces.
She gasps upon seeing it, already enamoured with the style of it. So much so that she doesn't see the connection between the gift and the arcade... until she remembers what they were playing.
"Wait, like when we were playing House of the Dead! Oh my god, I can't believe it's been a whole year since then... I think that was the last time I've played it. Mainly 'cause it feels weird playing it by myself now, the way I used to."
Even if the dots didn't click for her, she still would've been overjoyed that Ame got her something. That Ame actually remembered, instead of just getting her a cheap card last minute. Unlike some people.
She picks out the green, stitched-up side of the necklace and secures it beneath her usual choker. Offering the pink, brainy half to Ame, she offers a warm smile.
"Good guess, but no. As tempting as it is to add another pink thing to my collection, I want you to wear it so you'll think of me when you see it. Just like when you gave me Kuromi."
They've already spoiled each other with so many different presents they've spent to each other, yet this one isn't any less meaningful. A reminder of what their bond was built off of- similar interests, shared desires, and above all... mutual love.
A love strong enough that even turning undead couldn't kill the flames. Exactly the kind Harley has yearned for since she was small.
She puts the other half of the necklace onto Ame, pulling her in for a sweet kiss.
"I love you too, Meemee-chan."
