Is it just me, or do people get tired of being/falling in love?
Today, I lost my mind
Let me enlighten you about my morning today.
I was at work, sitting by the front door and taking care of paperwork. There are two sets of doors (so that there is a little foyer area - a vestibule, I believe it's called). Well, a coworker pried open the first set of doors and gave me a goofy look, and I watched him leave through the second set of doors - leaving them slightly ajar.
I continued to sit and take care of paperwork when I saw the same coworker come walking towards me from within the store.
I looked with him with a very confused look, and he looked at me like I was crazy.
I asked, "Ummm, didn't you just leave?"
My coworker responded in a completely normal fashion, "(slightly shakes his head while giving me the 'you're crazy' look)Uhhh, noo." The no was drawn out and his pitch lifted slightly at the end of it as he looked at me beneath semi-squinted eyes. (If you knew this guy, you'd know he was being serious. He's always under a lot of stress at work, and rarely have I ever seen him crack a smile let alone joke with me for so long.)
"But you just left! I don't..." I stammered.
*Coworker responds with one raised eyebrow and a cocked head.*
"You just left!! I watched you as you walked out those doors!" My voice started to get louder, and with that my pitch also began to climb higher. I didn't know how to feel. I remembered the goofy look he gave me as he left. How could he not really have left?! I was beginning to worry. Was I losing my mind? Had my joking foretelling of myself getting Alzheimer's before I'm 30 actually come to fruition? I was besides myself.
"But you left!" I nearly yelled.
"No! I didn't!" He sternly said back, with a raised volume and widened eyes.
I was almost offended by this, but I quickly let it go. I was worried about my current memory situation. But by the look on his face, and the tone of his voice, he was telling me the truth.
"Okay, I....maybe you didn't. I guess it was someone...I don't know. (Sigh) Okay." I eventually said with an almost solemn tone.
My coworker just shook his head at me and sighed at me with a guffaw to his tone.
He walked out through the doors - what I thought to be, yet again.
I turned my head to my papers, but quickly turned my head back to see him leave through the second set of doors.
He then broke out into this huge grin and shook his head while saying, "Naww, I'm just screwin with ya!" and he gave a hearty laugh - I mean, a legitimate chuckle to the likes I have never seen this man give.
I have no idea what the expression was on my face, but it made him laugh even more.
I felt a huge wave of relief just wash over me as I sighed and acknowledged the fact that I wasn't crazy. He was just that convincing.
As he walked away from the doors, yet again, I saw his shoulders slightly life up and down like he was still laughing.
