Check Mate!
Being a marathon runner, I know about the battle of the mind. There are days I have to tell my mind that the bed is not as comfortable and warm as it’s enticing me to think. I also know about telling my mind that having another piece of cake and drinking juice instead of water will not help me with being in better shape. How about when I’m cold calling and the voice on the other side is not welcoming. The worst is when my mind tells me that I can do this tomorrow, only to wake up 3 months later and I have not lifted a finger.
When the mind wins over you, let me tell you that anxiety moves in and worry becomes your best friend. Discouragement is your faithful neighbor and failure is family. All of these become excuses for us to do nothing.
The biggest war we fight in our lives, is in our own minds. There are many times where I thought I was not good enough, not beautiful enough, not smart enough, not degree’d enough, but all those were excuses. Here is the thing about excuses, they are just crutches of the uncommitted.
So these days, when I go to war with myself, I use the words of Meghan Trainor:
“You must have confused me, confused me with someone else. You must have confused me, confused me with someone else. There ain't no excuses, excuses, Kuri. Your mama raised you better than that, huh!”
You sometimes have to put yourself in check!
Don’t let the worries of January, nor the after effects of February, slow you down in 2019. Put your mind in check and say….I’ve Got This!
You Just Gotta Push Through & Keep On Keeping On

I am almost back to where I was a month ago. 2 weeks of shift eating took forever to get off. Now I have a party this weekend and the holiday weekend next week. I'm putting my gameface on and staying compliant! I'm 30 pounds from goal and over 100 lost.
The 9 (so far) stages of motherhood
by Laurie Gelman posted in Mom Stories As the mother of a teen and a tween I can tell you honestly that my ideas about parenting have run the gamut over the past 15 years. So far, I think I have gone through eight stages of motherhood. Just when I think I have one figured... Read more » Want to get the full story? Click on the headline above.
