There is, after all, five hundred years of history to be had. He could've lived in 2400 within this universe, only 100 years prior. Granted, Romeo and Juliet has survived roughly 425 years or history, maybe Moulin Rouge! can survive 516.

This could not be happening. H.G. wasn’t supposed to be there anyway, and now she’d been shot? Wasn’t she supposed to be better at this sort of thing?

"Oh, jeez — "

He crept over to where the unconscious body of Mr. Whatever-the-hell-his name-is, giving a slight smirk at the knowledge that they’d won yet again. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a bag and dropped the small object — a knife — into it, looking away as it sparked.

"Snagged and bagged," he announced, giving one last look to the man who’d thought it had been just a great idea to kill his ex-wife with a dagger that’d belonged to Alexander the Great. “Who’s the loser now, huh?”

Stuffing the bag back into his jacket, he made a beeline for H.G., who was clutching her shoulder. “Oh, man — you are gonna be alright. I mean, right? Myka would like, kill me. We, uh — we gotta get you to a hospital.”

Seeing the bright sparks, H.G. let out a sigh of relief as she offered him congratulations.

"I'd been after that bloody knife for a while now. I'm quite glad it hasn't escaped me this time."

She merely brushed off Pete's fussing as she stepped toward him. There was no need to worry him, after all.

"Of course I'll be fine--as if I could die from a tiny bullet," Helena commented, glancing at the blood now caked on her hand. Yes, going to the hospital would be a good idea.

"Listen to me, you are going to be fine."

Helena slowly opened her eyes, taking a few moments to register her surroundings. There was a burning pain in her shoulder. She struggled to climb to her feet, leaning against the wall for support.

"…Pete, d—"

She groaned, pressing her hand firmly where the bullet had entered.

"Did you neutralize the artifact?"

Marco Polo|| Young Jeannie and Young Pete

Jeannie was really good at Marco Polo, for a deaf kid. A lot of neighborhood kids hadn’t realized she was deaf, they just found it odd that she never yelled “Marco.”

Today it was just her and Pete in the pool. She started the way she always does, in the middle, feeling how the water moved, and where most of the movement was coming from. This usually worked well, unless it was an extremely windy day, or if Pete tried his best to disorient her (throwing a pool toy clear across the pool was a frequent trick of his). She analyzed more, and decided that most of the movement was coming from behind her.

She dove backwards as fast as she could, swimming toward the pool wall. When she got there, she felt it perfectly, and she grinned. She had him. She followed the current under the water that Pete made when he moved away. No matter what he did, he couldn’t get rid of it. It led right to him.

She reached out, and grabbed hold of Pete's foot. She popped out of the water, eyes wide open, and smiled. <I got you!> She was grinning from ear to ear. <You did a good job keeping still, too. I almost couldn't find you!>

[ The blonde young woman had come into one of Berkeley's prestigious labs, not expecting anyone to be there at this point in the day. Usually this was the sacred few hours where she could get so close to the science, it felt like she was always just mere minutes away from making a scientific discovery that would alter human life itself. 'cept now there was a guy in her safe-haven, and she hadn't ever seen him here before. Didn't exactly seem like a student. . . but his gloves were hella. ]
