“We can’t keep doing this,” Valeria said softly as she looked at the other in the eyes. They had been dancing around whatever this was for a while now and she needed to know what they could be.

Valeria wanted to protest at his words but Ash was right, of course. The other guy was not her type and considering going back to his hotel room was only a desperate attempt to move from the one currently holding her in his strong arms. A small laugh escaped the woman at the thought of having the third party only watch. It was so easy to be here, in Ash’s arms and Valeria’s heart was beating louder than it should. Her head laid on Ash and his next words took her completely by surprised, her breath stopping for a moment. Her eyes closed, taking in his words. Stupidly in love with you. She knew she should say something and that the small seconds that she let go by without saying anything must be excruciating for the male, at least they would be for her. “Do you mean it?” She couldn’t help herself from asking it even if she knew the male would not say it if it wasn’t true. Valarie still loved him, there was no doubts about that. Raising herself on tip toe, she softly brushed her lips against his. “Say it again, Ash.” Could it really be that easy, to go back to being them? To forget everything that lead to their break-up? Valeria knew that if he said it again, told her over and over that he still loved her, she would be putty in his hands. Honestly, she had been frm the moment he extended a hand to her. “Because I still love you, I never stopped but I can’t get my heart broken again.” Vaeria didn’t meant to say it was all his fault, she was as responsible in her heartbreak as him.
They had passed each other’s in the hallway before, helping when needed. The walls were paper thin and Valeria knew they heard her and her ex when they fought. And they probably heard it when said ex came around last night, one that Val let in her place only so he would stop yelling. The male had stayed over for the night, drunkenly crashing in her bed as soon as she stopped arguing with him. It was a night the woman had spent with one eye open as she tried to sleep on the couch, which left her tired and distracted. Something that showed now as she locked herself outside of her place. “Fuck,” she said, kicking her door as if it would help open it. Hearing a door open, Valeria turned around, a soft smile on her lips. “Sorry, I hope I didn’t bother you.” As if her little outburst would bother anyone after last night.

Angering her parents was something the woman sometime took perverse pleasure in, if only to let them know that she wasn’t the docile bird they wanted her to be. But the fun part, at least it was what Valeria tried to convince herself of, was that she didn’t have to step out of her way for that to happen. For the most part, she walked a straight line, knowing how much reputation mattered for her parents but there were thing that couldn’t be help. Valeria was not entirely made for the world she existed in, not plastic and condescending, and being close to the other had never been done out of anything but love. And ever since he was back, his workplace was where she could often be found. “Slow night,” she playfully said, the place almost full. “My dad found out about me coming here.” It was like the man had eyes everywhere, something she often didn’t understand. “Obviously, he’s thrilled.” The glass was raised to her lips as she softly laughed. “So his natural response was to set me with someone, again.”
