ahh...tabby...i think you would really benefit from reading http://inkskinned.tumblr.com/post/76348980497/ and thinking about it. this concept took a long time (several years) for me to fully internalize, even if you don't agree its a good read.
Sarah, this is why I love you so. Instead of getting angry at me for being ignorant, you sent me a great article that truly gives me perspective on this situation. I'm totally aware that I was born to fit in and not be ostracized socially or politically, so when I started seeing cis/white/het criticism on this website I didn't quite know how to react (I wasn't really angered or offended by it, but I think I was just slightly annoyed by it). art to me is just something you make or look at/listen to/read/play/experience in some way that makes you feel something?
even if it’s terrible, because something doesn’t have to be really good to cause an emotional reaction. like if a little kid draws a picture of their parents, it could be chicken scratch and it would still mean something, because genuine emotion was put into it.
