Moving to NYC?
Although it's easy to assume that all startups are based in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley, Austin or Boston...the truth is that companies are being created every day across the country in towns large and small. But as the next-Facebook hopefuls mature and find themselves in need of advanced funding rounds, business sense indicates that they need to follow the money. Next Big Sound, a Boulder based company, decided to move to NY after completing a $6.5 million round this past January. New York's diversified business environment consisting of prominent media companies, advertising firms, new and established startups and financiers contributes to a vibrant arena that supports and facilitates growth. Also, according to Roger Ehrenberg of IA Ventures, engineer hiring is less competitive than in Silicon Valley resulting in a better "ratio of data scientists to startups." See the full article here
