Tasty Sea Balls & Snakes || IAMASTERCHEF 001
☪☪ Part one: The intro ☪☪
Hefting her sack of ingredients to her shoulder she immediately flashed a flawless smile to the camera. It’s red light was blinking indicating she was on record. “Ah, yea- annyeonghaseyo~ For those who don’t know me by now my name is Acoda Le’Faye~” Items in her big sack clinked together and she raised a brow with a smirk.
“I bet you’re all quite curious what I have here right?” She asked cutely as she walked behind them.”Well first you’ll have to wait until I get my stuff settled in the kitchen to see- you naughty kids. First, take a look at my outfit before it is covered with an apron.” She shows off for the camera man and does a small turn on her high heels to show her classy black bralette and high waisted hot pants. Silver chains decorate her neck and run along her arms finished by fishnet stockings running up from her butt down her entire legs. “Not really an outfit suited for cooking, but I know how to behave dirty and stay clean. You know what I mean right?” Laughing she nodded to a question from one of the crew. “Yes just like in the kitchen, I believe i first enjoyed cooking because of the sheer mess that I can make there. Not only will what I make get it messy- but it will come out so tasty that nobody can resist. I think having that sort of control in the kitchen is quite good.” As they neared the kitchen she turned and gave a small pout when explaining her introduction to cooking.
“I was trained from very young to cook by my big sisters who were all potion witches, so they had a lot of experience with a cauldron and fire pit. From there I lived in many places like France...the deep south of America...ah ... I learned many techniques around the world. Are you excited to see some of them? You are? Alright well here we are so follow me~” and with a crook of her finger she led the camera into the kitchen with her.
☪☪ Part Two: The cooking ☪☪
“Well first I will begin by washing off my tools. We will be using a large knife for chopping, a wooden spoon for stirring and tasting, one large dish and two pans, also here is another large pot to bowl our noodles.” Filling the large pot with water she set on the boiler of the stove top and turned it on. “We’ll let that boil while we beginning chopping things over there.” Grinning at the camera she began to wash other things off before next heading to the cutting board.
“First off the entire dish is called “Castration of the Sea King .” It is based off of the tale of Medusa’s orgins. You all know Medusa right? Once she was a beautiful woman before the man that she loved- Poseidon, god of the Sea, betrayed her. He brought her to the goddess Athena’s temple to have sex with her against her will, not in love or passion, but in an effort to humiliate the Athena. In her rage, Athena turned Medusa into what she became- a gorgon! Some say it was done to punish Medusa since she could not punish Poseidon, and others say it was to protect Medusa from lustful men. Whatever the case , Medusa was a victim, and cast aside as a monster never to see justice for what had been done to her.” Still talking,she began chopping various vegetables as she went, carefully and quite professionally.
“Well in my own version of how the tale should have gone...she journeys back to the Sea King’s castle and takes her rightful revenge. Naturally she can not simply murder a lustful God and waltz away...but with some help she can maim him for good.” Chuckling she separated her chopped items as she finished them up. “So here we have some freshly peeled and cooked shrimp that I prepared before coming ( the kind frozen in a bag that you just defrost), 3 shallots that I have peeled and quarter cut, some diced onions and crushed garlic. What I am going to do with all of this is make something really yummy, and a bit naughty. Now you’ll see what I do here and how I like to mix gruesome mythology into my cooking and make it even more fun.”
“First we want to put all these shrimp and chopped up parts all in one big food processor...” She dumped it all together and scraped the left overs with her knife. “Then just get the processor going until everything is ground up and well combined. If it begins to look like ground meat you’re doing it right. if not consider adding more onion and shrimp. There. See?” Smiling she showed off her mixed ingredients to the camera. “Now we just season lightly with salt and pepper, preferably sea salt since I’m sure Poseidon produces that often. The pepper brings out a nice flavor and it is as black as Medusa’s heart when she comes for him. You’ll all see what I mean in just a moment now..” Grinning she walked the food over to the cutting board and dumped the mixture all back on the table. Dipping her latex gloved hands into some light olive oil she then set about molding bits of the meat mixture into balls. “ So we are going to ball all these up like so...Then once we have our balls ready we need to dip them deep into flour. Once they are all covered in white we will fry them- whether you prefer to use a pan or otherwise I am using the deep fryer. It’s a lot less mess and possibly one of the only useful inventions designed to make us all eat things we shouldn’t- leave these in for about 5 minutes.” Dropping the balls in the fryer she moved on to the stove where her pot of water was nice and boiling. A trash can was beneath her and she dropped the soiled gloves into it.
“I like to add lots of salt to my boiling water , it helps to flavor the noodles.” She murmured pouring some salt into the pot before adding her spaghetti pasta. “Really this is the best pasta to use for Medusa’s snake hair, just imagine as it boils up it is all her contained rage fueling her hair into a frenzy. “
Chuckling she walked over to her bag to lift out a bottle of soju. “Want a drink? This is an expensive bottle.” Turning it over she showed the camera the soju bottle. “But right now we are going to cook with this. Yes, alchohol is the perfect cooking agent. Especially when you want a richer flavor in your sauce, use a good red wine or a good soju can just add more flavor. Think of the Soju in this scenario as the scheme of revenge, hotly intoxicating our heroine’s mind and thoughts, just like when tipsy right?”
“We will use tomatoes that are chopped in the food processor and olive oil for this next step. Heat the oil in a pan while the tomatoes are chopping, and I think now we can remove those meatballs right?” Grinning she lifted the golden spheres from the fryer and set them on paper towels for the excess oil to seep into. “You can use anything you like, tofu, beef, but I used shrimp since our Poseidon is god of the sea no? It seemed appropriate. Anyways let these cool down and make the sauce as the pasta is boiling because this sauce is so quick and easy it should only take about twelve minutes.” The tomatoes were done processing but she went instead to grab some more garlic and tossed it into the hot oil. “Let the garlic brown in the sauce pan for a minute and a half then we add our tomatoes...” She waited and tossed the pan once before pouring in the tomato mixture and stirring it with the spoon. “Look at Medusa’s blood just simmering in rage here...Oh...it’s quite scary. “ She opened her mouth and eyes wide as if in fear before lifting the spoon to her scarlet lips and tasting the sauce. “Mmmmmmm...but it’s tasty too!” Pouring the soju in after a minute she hummed a song as she went. “This is only about half a cup of Soju, since I drank a bit last night- and should do us nicely. We want to let the alchohol burn off for eight minutes and just leave it a nice flavor. By now it has been nearly eleven minutes since our pasta started boiling so let’s take that off the heat...” Her smile did not waver even when the stove knob slipped under her long nails. “Ah, I should cut these shorter for cooking...just I enjoy having fashionable nails and the long sort are quite good for various things. “ Winking she turned off the stove and headed back to another cutting board where she had placed a block of feta cheese. “Lets just cut this into slices before crumbling it with the edge of our knife...it’s quite soft so it crumbles well.”
Doing so she had started to perspire lightly at her cheekbones and a small tinge of light entered her eyes. “It crumbles just like old plaster in a house being destroyed by ravaging tornadoes or earthquakes,....and don’t mind if it’s chunky. This will all be melting nicely in our sauce.” Going back to the boiling sauce she poured in the cheese and tilted her head. “Please refrain from salting your sauce as the feta cheese is already quite salty and gives the added flavor and creaminess we need for the finishing touch.”
“Now lets take this serving dish...pour in our noodles and toss them with a sprinkle of olive oil. Our balls have cooled down after being castrated by Medusa’s knife of rage. So let’s add them into her hair of snakes- because being a god he could re-attach them if they aren’t consumed right? So smother those balls in pasta- ah I mean snakes...and finally the blood from the carnage..” And she poured the tomato sauce over the whole thing, careful not to spill.
“Lastly I like to add some black olives, just to give it that extra tinge of bitter resentment,” she whispered as she sprinkled the pasta dish over with olives. “Alright I think we are ready- i’m excited to see how well Castration of the Sea King does...”
☪☪ Part Three: The serving ☪☪
With care she entered the room that her judge dokyungsoo-ia was waiting in. Her face was the mirror of an innocent angel since she had gone light on the eyeliner for this. “I have come to serve you the outrage of an ancient woman on a plate. Not only was she wronged by the man that she presumed to love, but was wronged by his entire family, and their offspring who hunted her. This is my own tale of Medusa taking her revenge on Poseidon. “ With a lift of her finger a silver platter with a cover over it floated to land gently in front of him on the table. “It is a pasta dish of my own creation, using the traditional Italian idea of spaghetti and meatballs, but changing it around for the lore we have some finely minced shrimp here for our meatballs, some long haired pasta in symbolism of our snaky madam’s hairdo, and a feta-soju infused tomato sauce to give us just the right tinge of flavor to match Medusa’s flavors of betrayal and outrage. This is Castration of the Sea King.”
The plate lifted and steam lightly rolled up before the dish was revealed. Taking her bow she floated back into the air with a cackle of laughter.
“Please enjoy the taste of Poseidon’s balls.”
