It was a Friday night, both Kazuto and Asuna had returned from their classes, exhausted. Most of the time, the two would rejoice their success of passing another day by rewarding themselves with sleep, with the optional kisses here and there, yet tonight, they had another thing in mind. Celebrating with each of them completing one course, a toast was to be made.
Kazuto had picked out the alcohol (which is quite typical for their country), sake. He sought out the most expensive brand as well before they made the return home, mainly for wanting to have an excuse to use their most valuable glasses they have. With their courses being the most advanced ones available, it was also suiting for this occasion and an excuse for being classy.
However lately, he had been questioning his own motives as to why he wanted to marry Asuna. He tried convincing himself he was overthinking everything and that things would be fine between them. Of course he still has feelings for her, though was it really time for them to get married? Sure, it happened in a virtual game, why not now? He felt irresponsible, they weren’t even out of college yet. They already own a house, clearly something was out of line, yet he couldn’t say anything. He cared about her feelings too much for him to end anything. He wanted things to work out, though it wasn’t fair for her either. He shouldn’t lie to her about something as major as marriage, a lifelong commitment.
With this in mind, he gave himself a mental note not to drink that much tonight.

Throughout the night, more and more of the alcohol had been consumed, more than likely Kazuto had passed his capable drinking limit. His actions were still the same, but the way he spoke certainly had changed. He told himself that he would be fine, nothing would happen. They were home, if anything, Asuna would have helped him. Sadly, not even he could remember the note he made earlier and ended up blurting out something he would end up regretting.
“You know, I’ve been thinkin’ lately. Maybe this whole, marriage idea was a mistake, ya know?”
Setting his glass down, he sighs, letting his moment of ignorance be even more obvious.
