I have bent to the undertow of misfortune, all my life. I have been ridiculed. I have been feared. I have suffered forces beyond my control, and I have survived them, one by one.

I have practiced kindness. I have staved off the demons that lurk in the shadows, I have spoken reason with the monsters and nightmares that keep you awake at night. I have sought light in the darkness and I have helped others find their way, when they have been all but lost to this world or the next.

I refuse to let corruption and despair take me. And for all of it that I have suffered, I am still here.
