My favorite part about living in Shungnak, [Alaska] is probably all the good food, the hunting, and all the fish and caribou we get. I help my sister cut meat, we go pick berries, and I help them fish and hang fish. My favorite is probably caribou— that’s the best. It’s best to dry it and dehydrate the meat; it makes a really good jerky. — Jerrilyn Cleveland is Inupiaq from Shungnak, Alaska.
