Spider-Man: No Way Home' Premieres in December 2021
Marvel’s biggest surprise in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ might soon be confirmed Spider-Man: No Way Home gave Marvel fans a thrilling ride this week. The first teaser trailer leaked on Sunday evening, and then Sony and Marvel released the official version a day later. The trailer then broke Avengers: Endgame’s viewership record for the first day after release. Fans kept watching the Spider-Man footage in search of hidden clues. As with most Marvel trailers, the No Way Home teaser is misleading. Sony and Marvel aren’t ready to spill all of the film’s secrets, especially the big spoiler that we’re pretty sure we already know. But a new rumor suggests that Sony and Marvel might soon confirm that big No Way Home surprise. #spidermannowayhome #spideman #comiccs4fun #iamitsquad #spiderman #marvel #avengers #tomholland #marvelcomics #ironman #peterparker #mcu #captainamerica #comics #thor #spidermanfarfromhome #hulk #avengersendgame #venom #spidey https://www.instagram.com/p/CTK4OSHhWoO/?utm_medium=tumblr
Then there were the Netflix Marvel TV shows, in particular Iron Fist. While only loosely connected to the MCU, Iron Fist fell into the problematic “white saviour” trap by casting Finn Jones as kung-fu-kicking New York rich kid Danny Rand, a stereotypical white guy who beats the Asian martial arts experts at their own game. Race-swapping Rand would have been to depart from the line of the original comic book, but that did not stop the studio casting Tilda Swinton as a “Celtic” take on the traditionally Asian Ancient One in Doctor Strange.
Continuing down this path was never going to wash after Black Panther proved the box-office firepower of a superhero movie populated almost entirely by actors of colour. And now Marvel has “fixed” its “Asian problem” by announcing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the first full trailer for which debuted this week. Instead of Ben Kingsley as Slattery, we get the inimitable Tony Leung as Wenwu, AKA the real Mandarin, while the even more grossly racist figure of Fu Manchu (who was Shang-Chi’s father in the original, 70s Master of Kung Fu comic-book run) has been wisely banished from sight.
After a Sunday estimate of $19.5M, Funimation’s animated Demon Slayer the Movie: Mugen Train actually debuted at $21.1M, according to their actuals released Monday.
Based on the Japanese manga comic book series by Koyoharu Gotoge, which has sold 150 million copies, the title opened theatrically in Japan in October 2020 and became the highest-grossing movie of all time in that country — defeating the 19-year record holder, 2001’s Spirited Away.
The North American version, which was released this weekend in both dubbed and subtitled formats, started with $21,144,800 on 1,605 screens, for a $13,174 per-screen average.

This week, Mads Mikkelsen, actor extraordinaire and the world’s dreamiest Dane, joined the cast of the forthcoming Indiana Jones sequel alongside Fleabag phenom Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The first trailer for F9, the latest installment in the venerable Fast and the Furious franchise peeled out of nowhere before rocketing into the stratosphere and our hearts.
Warning - This article contains spoilers for Episode 5, "Truth," of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Even in one of the slower episodes in terms of classic MCU action, Episode 5 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier fleshed out a lot of story details for fans before the show comes to a close next week. Wyatt Russell's John Walker went further down his descent into madness while Sharon Carter continued showing why she may have darker tendencies than ever before.
Much of this entry showed Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes finally cultivating a relationship with each other after finally taking down Walker in the opening moments. The two leading heroes formed a deep bond over the legacy of the Captain America shield, and the stage appears to be set for Sam to fully realize his true potential as a hero next week.
