Meriel: "My girlfriends and I have a book club. We chose this book by Malala, an activist and the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate, after we all attended a talk by her. We wanted to do a non-fiction book about feminism and education. There aren’t many that mix both. I work in law, so human rights stories are interesting to me. This book tells the story of Malala’s life in Pakistan, her relationship with her dad, a strong advocate of education, and their interaction with people who didn’t want girls to go to school. It touches on politics in the area, religious extremism, and how the US started dropping bombs.
